Glimpse of Western India

Day 01: Arrive Mumbai
Arrive Mumbai. Meeting/assistance at airport and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Mumbai
Morning breakfast at hotel and followed by full day city tour of Mumbai visiting Chowpatti, Gateway of India, Prince of Wales Museum, Dhobi Ghat (open laundry), Malabar hill, Hanging garden, Kamla Nehru park, Haji Ali Mosque, Marine drive (Queen’s necklace), Mahalakshmi Temple etc. Overnight stay at hotel.


Day 03: Mumbai/Ahmedabad
Morning breakfast at hotel. Intime meeting/assistance at hotel and transfer to airport to board flight for Ahmedabad. Arrive Ahmedabad meeting/assistance at airport and transfer to hotel. Afternoon city tour of Ahmedabad visiting Adalej step well, Sarkhej ka Roja, Akshardham temple, Hatheesingh Temple, Gandhi Ashram, Calico Museum etc. overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Ahmedabad/Wankaner
Morning breakfast at hotel and drive to Wankaner. Upon arrival check in at hotel. Afternoon city tour of Wankaner visiting various temples and Ranjit Vilas Palace etc. overnight at hotel.

Day 05: Wankaner/Junagarh/Sasangir
Morning breakfast at hotel and drive to Sasan Gir Forest for game viewing. This forest is the last remaining natural habitat of the Asiatic Lions, leopard, deer, monkeys, hyena, and peacocks and also teak and deciduous trees fill the skyline. Enroute visit Junagarh visiting Jain and Hindu temples, Forts and gardens. Thereafter continue your drive to Gir National park and check in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 06: Sasangir
Morning Jungle drive to the National Park look for Asiatic Lion, Leopard etc. Afternoon enjoy another Jungle drive in the National park. Overnight at hotel.

Day 07: Sasangir/Palitana
Morning breakfast at hotel and drive to Palitana. Upon arrival check in at hotel. Afternoon city tour of Palitana is a gateway to Shatrunjaya, the Place of Victory. It is famous Jain pilgrimage site. The climb up 2 kms to the hill would lead you into 863 different Jain temple complex built over a period of 900 years. The most important temple is dedicated to Sri Adhiswara, the first Trithankara founder of Jainism. Nearby is the Muslim shrine of Angar Pi. Childless women come here and make offering of miniature cradles at this shrine to fulfill their wish of motherhood. Overnight at hotel.

Day 08: Palitana/Bhavnagar/Mumbai
Morning breakfast at hotel and drive to Bhavnagar city tour visiting Gandhi museum, Takhteshwar temple and Barton library later drop at railway station to board train to Mumbai at 1825 hrs. Overnight on board.

Day 09: Mumbai
Morning arrive Mumbai. Meeting/assistance at railway station and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.  Overnight at hotel.

Day 10: Mumbai/Aurangabad by train
Morning after early breakfast at hotel meeting/assistance at hotel and transfer to railway station to board train to Aurangabad at 0615 hrs. Arrive Auranagabad at 1330 hrs. Meeting/assistance at railway station and transfer to hotel. Afternoon city of Aurangabad visiting Bibi ka Maqbara, Tomb of the empress, ungainly replica of the Taj and Panchakki, where an old mill and tomb of an important Sufi saint are set in serene gardens. There is also the Dualatabad fort just outside the city, built by Mohammad bin Tughlaq. Overnight at hotel.

Day 11: Aurangabad/Mumbai by train
Morning breakfast at hotel and leave for full day city tour of Ajanta and Ellora caves. Ajanta caves - 112 km from Aurangabad, the caves are an example of composite art in India is over 2000 years old hewn out of a solid rock. The wall paintings and frescoes of these caves have a beautiful flow of line and a wealth of color, some say even surpassing the finesse achieved by Da Vinci or Giotto of European Renaissance. Later visit Ellora caves. (Caves closed on Monday) Ellora Caves - Three distinct groups of temples relate the story of the evolution of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. Chiseled out of rock by religious monks over the centuries, the sites were chosen for their seclusion. Over 2000 years old, they are compared to the Pyramids for their amazing construction, sculptures and frescoes. The most marvelous of all is the Stupendous Rock Temple of Kailash. Later directly transfer to railway station to board train for Mumbai at 2200 hrs. Overnight at board.

Day 12: Mumbai
Morning arrive Mumbai meeting/assistance at railway station and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure or free for independent activities. Overnight at hotel.

Day 13: Mumbai onwards destination
Morning breakfast at hotel. Intime meeting/assistance at hotel and transfer to airport to board return flight. Hotel check out at 1200 noon.
