Bandhavgarh
National Park
The Park is spread over an area of 437 sq. km.The terrain is made of rocky
hills, sal forests and grazing areas, formerly agricultural land. The finest
of these hills is the Bandhavgarh hill, and on its highest point stands
Bandhavgarh Fort. Though no records remain to show when the fort was constructed,
it is believed to be about 2000 years old.
Gir National
Park and Sanctuary
The Gir National Park-situated in Gujarat was established on 18th September,
1965, as a Forest Reserve, primarily to conserve the Asiatic lion. The total
area under national park status is about 2,450 hectares. It is located in
the Junagadh District of Gujarat, about 65 km south-east of Junagadh city,
and 90 km east of Keshod Airport, in the Kathiawar (Saurashtra) Peninsula.
Kanha National Park
Kanha's sal and bamboo forests, rolling grasslands and meandering streams
stretch over 940 sq km in dramatic natural splendour. This is original Kipling
country, of which he wrote so vividly in his Jungle Book. The same abundance

Bharatpur National
Park
Situated in eastern Rajasthan, about 176 kms away from Delhi, and 50 km
west of Agra, is the Keoladeo Ghana or Bharatpur National Park, one of the
most spectacular bird sanctuaries in India, nesting indigenous water- birds
as well as migratory water birds and water side birds. It is also inhabited
by sambar, chital, nilgai and boar.
Kaziranga National
Park
Lying along the mighty Brahmaputra River, the Kaziranga National Park covers
an area of about 430 sq. km. Its swamps and grasslands with tall thickets
of elephant grass and patches of evergreen forest, support the largest number
of rhino in the subcontinent.
Corbett National
Park
The Corbett National Park is located in the terai region of the state of
Uttar Pradesh, straddling the undulating Shivalik foothills of the Himalayas.
Located around 300 kilometres away from New Delhi, it is India's first ever
national park.
Ranthambore National
Park
Near the township of Sawai Madhopur, in the state of Rajasthan, Ranthambore
National Park is an outstanding example of Project Tiger's efforts at conservation
in the country. The forests around the Ranthambore Fort were once, the private
hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur.
Sariska Tiger Reserve
Sariska, in Rajasthan, the erstwhile royal preserve of the rulers of Alwar,
became a sanctuary in the year 1958. The sanctuary came under the Project
Tiger in 1979 and became a national park in 1982. It is located at Kankwari
fort, near Alwar, on the Delhi - Jaipur Highway. The terrain is predominantly
hilly, as it lies in the Aravalli range.
Buxa Tiger Reserve
Buxa Tiger Reserve-The Tiger Reserve in eastern India was set up in the
year of 1982-83 at the north eastern corner of West Bengal bordering Bhutan
and Assam. This picturesque reserve with its proigous Terai, Bhabar as well
as Hilly landscape, is desected by numorous revulets. Its delared a National
Park in January 1992.

Rajaji National Park, Uttaranchal: Situated in the forested hills, east
of Haridwar, is quiet known for its wild Elephants, which have an approximate
